Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pick-up. This agreement outlines important terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your responsibilities regarding the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To rent a vehicle in Shrewsbury, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions can differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra charges for drivers under 25. A valid, full driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category, must be held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. You will need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional requirements may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Shrewsbury office. A deposit may be needed to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally due at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. You will complete and sign a vehicle condition report to document its state. Please return the vehicle in the same condition as received, accounting for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at the start of your rental; refueling fees will apply for any discrepancies. Late returns may result in extra fees, so please inform us right away if you expect a delay. You are liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or related charges accrued during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. The full terms and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options are available to help minimize your financial responsibility. It is advisable to review these options closely. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you have opted for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For specific details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up can incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or similar high-risk actions is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, adhering to passenger and weight limits. Any travel outside designated geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breaching these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Shrewsbury is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim will not surpass the total rental amount paid in the past 12 months. This provision does not affect our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or fraudulent actions.
Shrewsbury Legal Framework
